The Final Product Of This Woodworking Project Will Blow You Away
When you think of items you use every day in your kitchen, specialty accessories like a mortar and pestle probably don”t top the list. “What is a mortar and pestle,” you might ask? They”re incredible implements to make all sorts of delicious things in, like guacamole, sauces, and purees.
Instead of heading to the store to buy a boring mortar and pestle set, this guy decided to take matters into his own hands. After you see the finished product, we”re pretty sure you”ll want one of your own.
He began by cutting the piece of wood that would become the mortar.
Then he attached a type of wood called SpectraPly to the cherry board, giving it a distinct design.
The pestle was also made using a combination of SpectraPly and cherry wood.
Here”s the mortar on the lathe, slowly and carefully being crafted into its final shape.
Once the mortar was molded, he added some oil stain to give the wood a nice color and shine.
And here”s the finished product.
